The Knight Frank Global House Index states a progressive slowing down of the prices of the prestigious real-estate worldwide during the year 2007.
It progressed of 7.8 % in the world from the middle 2006 to the middle 2007, against 9.6 % during the previous year. The increasing interest rates played an important role in this slowing down, but the main explanation of this phenomenon lies in the fact that many markets, in particular the emerging markets of Central or oriental Europe, had reached the limits of the reasonable price levels explain the specialists of Knight Frank.
