Rates of property mortgages are going down in the majority of the French regions.

Brokers determine a « general tendency in fall ».

Along with their banking partners, they have studied the evolution of rates between January 15th and February 12th, 2008, and they analyzed variations of rates between 0.05 and 0.10 % on lower or equal length in 20 years.
Rates are far from general light increases which were notified at the end of January.

The market has changed within 15 days.

Mortgage’s rates increased in 2007.

And banks meet the obligation to push up the property market by selling credit. OAT went down and banks could use it to adapt their conditions of loan.

To borrow costs less in the North than in the region of Mediterranean Sea

Rates falls are obvious in the North part of France, the Southwest, the East and Rhône-Alps areas are stable so far, while the increase tendency remains in the region of Mediterranean Sea, with progresses of 0.05 % on loans in 20, 25 and 30 years.

What could be the evolution for months to come?

 «It is difficult to anticipate in the long term. But a thing is sure: it is easier to borrow on February 15th than at the beginning of January » say brokers.
