The like-for-like scope of consolidation for FY 2004/2005 includes Q1 sales of Serre Chevalier Ski Développement (fully consolidated since the beginning of FY 2005/2006) and of the Planète Sauvage leisure park (acquired in April 2005), as well as the accounting restatements required by the application of IFRS.
Sales for the first quarter of FY 2005/2006 were €51.8 m, an increase of 12.6% on a real basis and 8.9% on a like-for-like basis.
The first quarter traditionally has the lowest sales of any during the fiscal year. Ski areas provide 75% of sales, and these increased by 2.6%. Sales climbed in the majority of Group ski areas, particularly at the Grand Massif and Méribel.
Sales at leisure parks surged by 31.9% on a like-for-like basis. The principal reasons were the extension of the season at Parc Astérix until end-October, providing a 95% increase for the quarter, and the continuation of the positive effects of the renovation of the Dolfinarium in the Netherlands to end-summer sales, providing a 90% increase for the quarter.
Compagnie des Alpes is a major player in the field of leisure production in Europe . CDA operates 28 leisure sites including 14 leading ski areas located in the Alps . These include Tignes, Les Arcs, La Plagne, Méribel, and others. The company also operates 14 family leisure sites, including Parc Astérix and Grévin, in six countries in Europe : France , Italy , Switzerland , Holland , Germany , and the United Kingdom . In all, CDA counts 20 million visitors annually. During the last fiscal year, closed on September 30, 2004 , the Group attained €372.2 m in sales and net attributable income of €29 m.
